We are pleased to announce that Wendy Thomson, BS, CHS has joined the Mississippi Center for Advanced Medicine. Wendy serves as a Lead Clinical Research Coordinator at MCAM. Clinical research helps us to find better ways to prevent, understand, and treat diseases. In this role Ms. Thompson assists principal investigators (PIs) and supports study participants who volunteer to enroll in clinical research trials at MCAM. Her responsibilities include coordinating study visits and... data collection, supporting research safety, study protocol adherence and research compliance, and communicating frequently with study participants. Wendy holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Southeastern Louisiana University and is a Certified Histocompatibility Specialist. She has over twenty years of laboratory experience at academic medical centers including Ochsner Clinic Foundation and is an active member of the American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics . In her free time, Wendy enjoys spending quality time with her husband, Oliver, and two sons, Josh and Conner and cheering on her hometown New Orleans Saints. https://msadvancedmedicine.com/research/

We are pleased to announce that Haley Barber, LPN has joined the Mississippi Center for Advanced Medicine. Haley works as a licensed professional nurse (LPN) for the Pediatric Endocrinology division in Tupelo. As an LPN, Haley provides clinical support to patient care and also serves patient families by assisting with the check in process and answering phones. Prior to joining MCAM, Haley served as a LPN at EliteCare Family Medicine in Guntown. Ms. Barber holds an Associate of Science in Practical Nursing from Northeast Community College and is IV certified. PEDIATRIC ORTHOPAEDIC SURGERY We are very pleased to announce that Aileen Danko, MD, FABOS has joined the Mississippi Center for Advanced Medicine. Dr. Danko serves as a Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon at MCAM. After completing her Bachelor of Science at Duquesne University, she was a pediatric intensive care nurse at the University of North Carolina Children’s Hospital before deciding to enroll in medical school at Temple University School of Medicine where she completed her M...edical Degree. She next completed her Orthopaedic surgery residency at Duke University Medical Center followed by a Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery fellowship at Shriners Hospital for Children in Greenville, South Carolina. Dr. Danko’s passion has always been caring for children. She had a desire to become an Orthopaedic Surgeon from her interest in sports medicine and the mechanics of orthopaedic surgery. Treating children with fractures, sports injuries, congenital deformities, and much more gives children the opportunity to get back to their activities and best functional capabilities. Dr. Danko is board certified and is a Fellow of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. She will perform surgeries Mississippi Baptist Medical Center, one of Mississippi's best hospitals. Prior to joining MCAM, Dr. Danko worked at Nemours Children's Clinic as well as private practices in Georgia and South Florida. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her children John and Caroline, attending Florida Panther NHL games, going to Atlantic Beach and Florida, oil painting, making jewelry and running in the National Senior Games. The Pediatric Rheumatology program at MCAM has a new physician leader, but the passion and expertise for serving children with autoimmune disorders remains the same.
