Cross Notes, Wednesday, March 3 When Jesus made his triumphal entrance into Jerusalem to begin Passion Week, a big part of the crowd that day may have thought they were inaugurating a new king of Israel. Most Jews looked forward to the coming of the Messiah and the day when God was going to send his heavenly army to liberate Jerusalem from the Romans and reestablish the earthly Kingdom of Israel. They envisioned the Messiah leading the way, riding on a great white stallion... with his sword flashing in the sun. If that’s what they expected, they were in for a shocking surprise. That’s probably why Jesus chose to ride the young donkey into town that day. It was just the opposite of a war horse. If this was the Messiah, he sure wasn’t living up to expectations. People today can make that same mistake. People often create an image of God as they think he should be rather than as He is. And they sometimes are mistaken over what they can expect from God and what God expects from them. God sent Jesus to be your Savior, and he expects you to serve him as your Lord. Our telephone company is installing fiber internet lines in our area. Bro. John’s Wi-Fi is currently not working so he has been unable to do his Morning Devotionals this week. We are hopeful this is a very temporary issue.

Cross Notes, Tuesday, March 2 When Jesus rode into Jerusalem for the Passover, crowds gathered along the route. They began to lay coats and palm branches across the path, and shout Hosanna and Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord. Some were just curious. Others hoped to be the recipient of His next miracle. But undoubtedly, there were also those in the crowd who had already been touched by Jesus. The Gospels don’t tell us, but I can’t help but believe that... Lazarus was on the front row. Zaccheus probably wasn’t far behind. Mary Magdalene who experienced Jesus’ forgiveness and Bartimaeus, the formerly blind man from Jericho. And what about the lame man from the pool of Bethsaida? He could walk on his own now because of Jesus. Who knows how many others were cheering their hero, because He had touched and changed their lives. Outcasts, tax collectors, prostitutes, and even some former lepers were probably there to welcome their friend. Jesus had touched many lives. And many of them were there in the crowd that day, praising Jesus. That’s why many of you are in Church today. Jesus touched you and changed your life! You know what Jesus has done for you. And you want everyone to know how grateful you are. For you, worship is all about cheering for Jesus and thanking Him. (From the sermon Here Comes Jesus Cross Roads Baptist Church 2/28/21) See more
